4. Guest Room - Main Level - Sleeps 2 Two Singles, shares a full bath with the main living area

*The two twin beds can also be made up as one large bed

The ground-level deck, under the house, has a wonderful outdoor shower.

All linens and towels are provided and a washer & dryer are on the back deck.

We planned our island vacation retreat for gathering with family and friends. The main living space opens to both the east and west sides with 24 feet of pocketing sliding doors that open onto large screened porches for lounging and dining, allowing the sea breeze to flow through.

All rooms have a western view of the water and spectacular sunsets.

Gourmet Kitchen

Fully equipped kitchen with Sub-Zero, Wolf, and Kitchen Aid Appliances, as well as a Kitchen Aid food processor, Vita-mix blender, and a Keurig coffee maker.

When the chef in your family needs a break, our tropical vacation house is also close to a variety of fine dining restaurants accessible by boat.

Beach & Water Fun

You have the use of 4 stand-up paddle boards, 2 double-person kayaks, 2 children's kayaks, and a canoe, with plenty of life vests. We also have a large variety of beach toys, rafts, and floats.

Dining Out - Three excellent restaurants are directly across from Jewfish Key on Longboat Key, with many other restaurants just a short drive south along Longboat Key and in downtown Sarasota, or north to Anna Maria Island.

Wildlife - During a typical stay, you might see dolphins playing off the beach, manatees, tarpon, sea turtles, and a large array of Gulf Coast fish. There are no poisonous snakes or other dangerous wildlife on the island.

Birding - For a bird lover‘s vacation, you will see and hear osprey, great horned owls, pileated woodpeckers, great blue herons, egrets, wood storks, roseate spoonbills, screech owls, white and brown pelicans, frigates, cormorants, anhingas, and many other seabirds.

Fishing - Fly and cast fishing are epic, as the waters surrounding the island, nick-named by the locals as "The Kitchen", are teeming with Gulf Coast fish.

Beach-combing is also wonderful on the island and along the sandbar. Exploring our private island is fun for all.

The Sandbar and World Famous White Sand Beaches - wade out to one of the largest sandbars in the area, just feet from your front door, or boat over to the award-winning Gulf Coast beaches on Anna Maria Island and Longboat Key.

Meet Your Hosts

Stephen and Catherine are your hosts. Stephen grew up in Boston and spent summers cruising the coast of New England with his father on his sailboat and alternate weekends visiting our lake home in Vermont.

Our family loves to travel, spending time on the water and skiing. We have lived in Sarasota full-time since 1998 and enjoy the subtropical climate and boating throughout the area.

Stephen, a builder, designed and built the home, and we have made some beautiful memories spending time on the island with our friends and family.

The island house is our bliss, and we are happy to share it with like-minded families.
